Alice Cooper (formerly Furnier’s band name), the stage name of Vincent Damon Furnier (Detroit, February 4, 1948), is a singer and songwriter of hard rock and psychedelic rock whose career spanned more than four decades . He is best known for his live performances, often theatrical and violent, full of make-up, electric chairs, guillotines, decapitated artificial heads and fake blood. Born in the city of Detroit in 1948, Vincent Furnier formed their first bands in the 60’s. Although they were many, only Nazz got some repercussion, getting to make some recordings.
Finally, in 1969, Furnier (vocals and harmonica) formed the band Alice Cooper , along with guitarist Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce on rhythm guitar, Dennis Dunaway on bass and drummer Neal Smith. The first album, ” Pretties for You ” was released in 1969, but there has been very successful.
The group’s career began to become famous when producer Bob Ezrin advised the vocalist to perform diabolical performances in the performances, in addition to singing, abusing the effects of horror, snakes, blood and theatrical scenes.
The definitive success came with the classic “School’s Out” (1972), followed by “Billion Dollar” Babies (1973), when they reached the top of the charts all over the world.
Later, Vincent adopted the name Alice Cooper, who previously belonged to the band, to himself and began his solo career.
Rolling Stone magazine voted him “The Most Loved Artist of Heavy Metal” in 2006, joining the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 along with the band’s original line-up. Alice is still touring today, with a career spanning more than forty years and fifty million albums sold worldwide.
