This week in January of 1966 the single “My Love” by Petula Clark entered the Billboard Hot 100. The song was written and produced by Tony Hatch. It was recorded at Western Studios in Hollywood backed my members of the Wrecking Crew.

It reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 February 5, 1966, making Clark the first British female to have two US #1 hits. The song returned Clark to the UK Top Ten for the first time since “Downtown” two years previous with a March 1966 peak of #4. ” In the UK the single earned a Silver disc for sales of 200,000 units.

Initially Clark was very much against Warner Bros. releasing “My Love” as a single, but they did and it was a success. It also appeared on the album of the same name which was recorded partially in L.A. and London.
