Genre: Beat, Pop / Rock.
The Tonics was a beat group with some success in the 60s, formed in 1959 in Hamburg, Germany. The group played under several pseudonyms (ex .: The Spots, The Tonics and some others).
The band originated in an earlier group called “Allround Men” who pioneered the Rock’n’Roll in Germany, consisting of Helmuth Franke, Horst Mewes, Günther Golz and Joachim Hennings, all about 15 years old at the time. The producer of the Polydor label, Jimmy Bowien heard the group and invited him to recordings, also offering them the change of its name to The Tonics . The band was also used as a studio group.
The Tonics had changes to their original training during his career. The guitarist Helmuth Franke left The Tonics in 1968 to collaborate in the newly formed group of Achim Reichel and Frank Dostal, The Wonderland.
They separated in 1970.
